OriginalVoices Question & Content Policy

OriginalVoices lets you ask questions to real people's Digital Twins and receive insights instantly. To keep the platform safe, respectful, and compliant, there are some types of questions and topics that aren't allowed.

We review all submitted content automatically - and sometimes manually - to make sure it meets these standards.

Allowed Questions & Topics

You can ask about topics such as:

  • Consumer behaviour
  • Habits and routines
  • Shopping and brand preferences
  • Entertainment and media choices
  • Product feedback and concept testing
  • Technology use
  • Travel preferences
  • Lifestyle and opinions
  • Workplace experiences
  • Parenting (from the parent's perspective)

Examples of allowed questions:

  • "How often do you order food delivery?"
  • "What matters most when choosing a new laptop?"
  • "How do you feel about working from home?"
  • "What helps you decide which skincare products to buy?"
  • "Parents: how do you choose activities for your kids?"

These questions are safe, non-personal, and focused on general experience, behaviour, or perception.

Disallowed Questions

Some topics are not permitted because they are sensitive, harmful, or regulated. If a question or topic falls into any of these categories, we block it.

You cannot ask questions that include:

  • Sexual content (explicit, suggestive, intimate or adult topics)
  • Political persuasion or campaigning (questions intended to influence political opinions, elections, parties, or civic outcomes)
  • Targeted influence messaging (e.g., persuasion questions directed at specific demographic groups such as age, region, ethnicity, income, identity)
  • Hate or discrimination (questions targeting groups or individuals based on identity)
  • Violence or harm (including threats, justification, or harm to self or others)
  • Extremism or radicalisation
  • Illegal activity (instructions, justification, or personal disclosure of crimes)
  • Medical, legal, or financial advice (diagnosis, prescriptions, investments or legal guidance - general sentiment is fine)
  • Sensitive questions about minors (unless asked to adults and framed appropriately)
  • Requests for personal or identifying information (names, addresses, employer, school, phone number, financial accounts, precise location, etc.)

Examples of content we will reject

  • "Who are you voting for in the next election?"
  • "How often do you watch porn?"
  • "Should certain religions have fewer rights?"
  • "Have you ever committed a crime?"
  • "What's your home address or postcode?"
  • "What's your name and income?"

Clarifying Political Content

We allow neutral research questions about public attitudes toward societal or policy topics (e.g., healthcare, housing, transportation, energy, education) — as long as the purpose is understanding, not influence or persausion

Allowed:

  • Neutral research, sentiment, or awareness
  • Opinion measurement without persuasion intent
  • Comparative attitudes or understanding

Example questions we allow:

  • “How clearly do you understand this policy explanation?”
  • “Which issues matter most to you when thinking about the future?”
  • “How does this policy idea make you feel?”

Not allowed:

  • Campaigning, advocacy, persuasion, mobilisation
  • Messaging created to influence voter behaviour
  • Targeted persuasion toward specific groups (“convince parents”, “persuade seniors”, etc.)

Example questions we don't allow:

  • “How could this message be rewritten to make you more supportive of this policy?”
  • “What message would make you support Candidate X?”
  • “How can this be rewritten to persuade undecided voters like you?”

If your question is rejected

You'll be shown a notification explaining that the topic isn't permitted. You're welcome to rephrase your question to focus on:

  • General experiences
  • Opinions
  • Behaviours
  • Non-sensitive topics or themes

We're still early, and these guidelines will evolve as we learn and grow. We'll continue reviewing and refining them to make sure they're fair, responsible, and appropriate for everyone using the platform.
